When Love Takes You In - Steven Curtis Chapman

I can't even type the words about what happened to Steven Curtis Chapman's precious daughter. I'm sure you can find 1,000 stories on-line about it. His youngest daughter, and her name was Maria. Imagine how that hits home for me. I simply cannot imagine his pain. I'M having such pain over it, and I didn't even know them personally. In my readings today, I found this song that he wrote, and it expresses his views on adoption beautifully.

When Loves Takes You In

I know you’ve heard the stories
But they all sound too good to be true
You’ve heard about a place called home
But there doesn’t seem to be one for you
So one more night you cry yourself to sleep
And drift off to a distant dream

Where love takes you in and everything changes
A miracle starts with the beat of a heart
When love takes you home and says you belong here
The loneliness ends and a new life begins
When love takes you in

And somewhere while you’re sleeping
Someone else is dreaming too
Counting down the days until
They hold you close and say I love you
And like the rain that falls into the sea
In a moment what has been is lost in what will be

When love takes you in everything changes
A miracle starts with the beat of a heart
And this love will never let you go
There is nothing that could evercause this love to lose its hold

When love takes you in everything changes
A miracle starts with the beat of a heart
When love takes you home and says you belong here
The loneliness ends and a new life begins
When love takes you in it takes you in for good
When love takes you in

Please pray for peace for the Chapmans.

Guess who's crawling?!

One day short of 14 months old, little Miss Maria decided to crawl today! woohoo!! She's pulling up and trying her best to walk, and I just knew she would be like Maya and walk before she crawled, but nope. She crawled!! Gran was here to see it, while daddy has taken Maya to the doctor. It appears that Maya has some sort of rash with a fancy name, but it's a rash. It'll be itching her soon, poor baby, and it could last 6 - 9 weeks! eeek! Daddy should be home soon, so I must go prepare something for my big baby girl's supper. But I just had to share the good news. Maria crawled!! Yay!!!

GOTCHA!

May 1st was 'Gotcha Day'! Two years ago we flew into Guatemala City on April 30, full of excitement, anticipation, a little fear, and a LOT of love for our baby girl. We had to wait until the next day to get her, but she was worth the wait! She was absolutely perfect, and she still is. I know some people do not like the phrase "Gotcha Day", but I like it! It's the day we got Maya, and the day Maya got us! I can't believe it's been 2 years, but I also can't believe she wasn't always part of our family. It's like we were just existing until she came, and now we are fully alive.

We celebrated a day early, since mama loves a good sale! The local bounce house now has a family time on Wednesday nights from 4 - 7, so I took that day off and took my girls around 4:30. Daddy met us there, as did Gran. We had a blast!

Maria, however, is not quite as fond of the big slide, so I'll save her the posting of the crying picture, and just post the one of what she DID enjoy there:

After Pump It Up, we went to Baskin Robbins 31-cent scoop night (in honor of our local firefighters) and we all enjoyed ice cream before supper! Maya, as usual, loved the treat but did not eat much as she just didn't have time to slow down and actually eat something. Maria did a little more damage to her 2 scoops. But let's just say mama polished off a whole bunch of ice cream that night! We all enjoyed it very much.

We love you, baby girl!
